Windows features on your Mac? These 5 apps make it possible

Switching from a Windows PC to a Mac can be a big step. It seems like you have to say goodbye to a number of functions for good. However, that need not be the case. Especially if you put these apps on your computer.

Windows and macOS are worlds apart. During the first weeks you sometimes ask yourself why you switched, while later you ask yourself why you didn’t do it sooner. However, you may miss some features.

5 Windows apps on your Mac

These 5 apps fill the void that the transition from Windows to Mac leaves behind. Here they come.

Parallels brings Windows to your Mac

Do you have a Mac, but can’t live without Windows? Then Parallels is the solution for you. You actually get a second system on your Mac, only it looks completely like Windows. It works on both Intel and M-Series Macs.

The great thing about Parallels is that it brings 40 different Windows functions to your Mac. However, the app does come with a hefty price tag. You pay 119 euros per year for the Pro version. For the Business Edition you even have to pay 149.99 euros per year. The regular version costs one time 129 euro.

AltTab on your Mac

If you’ve used Windows for years, the Alt Tab combination is almost legendary. By using the two buttons you can easily switch between the different screens. Unlike the Mac, Windows does give a preview of what you will see in the next screen and that makes it a lot more user-friendly.

Fortunately, for Mac users, there is a free solution. The app is aptly named Alt Tab. Instead of Alt, use the option key. You see all the windows you have open and switch between them just as easily as Max Verstappen does in his Red Bull. You download the app here.

Magnet

The name Windows actually says it all: screens. If Microsoft’s system is good at something: it is organizing your different screens that you have open in a clear way. This can also be a loss on your Mac.

Fortunately, the Magnet app offers the solution. This program sorts your different screens and adjusts the sizes so that they look beautiful next to each other. There is one drawback: the app is not free, because you pay for it 9,99 euro for.

CopyClip2

This app is really indispensable on your Mac. There’s a reason: Apple still doesn’t have a good clipboard manager. So when you copy and paste you have to switch between different screens which can be quite annoying. Something Windows has been doing well for years.

Fortunately, you can bring that blissful sticky feeling of Windows to your Mac through the CopyClip2 app. However, this version does cost 9,99 euro. Fortunately, there is also a free alternative, although it is slightly less. This is the first version: CopyClip.

Something you immediately miss on a Mac is the famous Windows taskbar. Fortunately, that is easy to solve with uBar. The app ensures that you get the old-fashioned taskbar back completely. Handy if you can’t get used to the Mac look.

Unfortunately there is one but. This feature has a free trial period. After that, the taskbar will cost you once 30 dollar.
