At the end of this week, Microsoft started rolling out the new update Build 22635.4010 (KB5041869) for users of the Insider program, on the Beta channel. This update features minor improvements to the system taskbar.

One of the new features is the return of the simplified version of the notification bar. This new design would have already been confirmed in previous builds of Windows 11, but now it will begin to be available to even more users.

This new version presents the contents and icons in a simpler way, and Microsoft also confirms that it solves some usability problems with the taskbar, although it has not been detailed leave information in this regard.

With a simplified form of the notification area, only the date and time are displayed in an abbreviated form, and the notification icon only appears based on the mode that is active with Windows.

This new update also includes improvements for Microsoft Paint, which should provide the best experience for users with touch screen devices. Improvements have also been made to the application’s support for special drawing pens, which allow you to use their buttons to quickly switch between the different Paint tools.

Finally, this update also includes traditional bug fixes and some general system improvements. There is, however, a bug that has not yet been fixed, and which can remove the GPU Performance section of the Task Manager when the system’s dark mode is active.
