Windows 11 Preview Build Makes Tablet Taskbar More Widely Available – Computer – News

Microsoft has released a new test build of Windows 11 targeting the Dev channel. This includes extensive support for a taskbar optimized for tablet users.

It is a taskbar optimized for touch control. In concrete terms, this means that the taskbar, so to speak, shrinks to a smaller size with a tablet with a touch screen and no mouse or keyboard connected. This also leaves more space on the screen. The idea is that the larger size taskbar simplifies touch control. You can switch between formats by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

In the previously released Build version 25197 this optimized taskbar already existed, but was only available to a limited group. With the current Preview of Windows 11 Insider build 25231 this feature is available to all Windows Insiders in the Dev channel.

The current build also includes changes to the file notification area made more widely available, so that more people can use the drag and drop-option. Also, in build 25231 most of the bugs have been removed. However, there are also known problems, such as a flickering of the taskbar when switching from expanded to collapsed format.
