Windows 11 prepares for its “consumer” release

The first version of Windows 11 will be available for download soon. The date is set for October 5th. Meanwhile, the operating system is gearing up and a new step is being taken. Windows 11 21H2 is offered through the Release Preview channel of the Insider Program.

This is the final test on this release. Windows 11 is now available on the Release Preview channel. It can be accessed from qualified computers, that is, meeting the minimum requirement by having compatible drivers. There are still some tweaks here and there, but we’re talking about “minor” issues for this 22000.194 release.

Microsoft still has two weeks to improve its overall operating system experience. Of course, it’s planned to continue its development after that, while making corrections in case errors do arise.

Windows 11 build 22000.194, Release Preview

Please note that this version of Windows 11 is not automatically downloaded and installed. It is offered as an option. You need to go to this address to get an update.

Paramètres > Mise à jour et sécurité > Windows Update

Then you must manually select the option “Download and install” (you must be registered in the Release Preview channel). If you select “Stay on Windows 10 for now”, you will get Windows 10 21H2 (October 2021 update). If your PC has a compatible hardware configuration, Windows 11 will be offered in the form of a simple Windows Update. Downloading may take some time. Approximately 3GB of data is required.

Windows 11 promises big changes. The most striking fact is probably the interface with a more modern look. It goes through a new Start menu, a new Action Center, central taskbar icons, a new Microsoft Store, and more. Microsoft is also giving up on dynamic tiles. The October 5 release will introduce all of these new features, but Microsoft intends to continue improving its environment. For example, it is already planned to introduce connection options that will appear above the power options.

Finally, step by step Windows 11 will arrive. They are designed to be deployed in waves to ensure everything runs smoothly. Obviously, it is possible that the operating system is not available on D-Day for your computer. So patience will be required. The giant has set itself a goal of offering the free Windows 11 upgrade to all qualifying PCs before mid-2022.
