Microsoft has started testing tab functionality in Windows 11 Notepad (Windows Insider Blog article)。
Testing is open to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel, and tabs are available after updating the Windows Notepad app to version 11.2212.33.0 in the Microsoft Store. In the tabbed version of Notepad, Ctrl+N opens a new tab and Ctrl+Shift+N opens a new window. Double-clicking an associated file or opening a file from the File menu defaults to opening in a new tab, but you can configure it to open in a new window. The shortcut keys for switching tabs seem to be the same as Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
According to Microsoft, Notepad’s tabs feature was also the most requested feature from the community. Slad, are you happy with Notepad’s tab function?
