Windows 11 is the most downloaded preview in OS history, reveals Satya Nadella

This Wednesday (29), the CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, revealed in a meeting with company executives that Windows 11 is the most downloaded preview in the history of Windows Insider. The boss commented that the company intends to “re-imagine everything” in this new edition of the OS, while reinforcing that the debut will take place later this year.

“More people downloaded the previews [do Windows 11] than any other Insider program release or update. And along with our OEM ecosystem, we’re excited to bring Windows 11 to new PCs from the holidays,” said Nadella during the call.

He didn’t give numbers or dates related to Windows 11. Still, the fact that the system is already on a sizable number of computers isn’t new. This month, a AdDuplex company search revealed that the new generation preview is on 1% of all Windows computers.

It’s an extremely important number — and Nadella’s statement reinforces the result. Windows 11 tends to be an important step up in the family of operating systems, and judging by the popularity of early access versions (and not considering the demanding minimum requirements), the edition is likely to settle on most computers in the world quite quickly. .

Windows 11 would be “the start of a Windows revolution”, in Nadella’s words, and its goal is to meet the needs of “everyone”.

Can you confirm that the launch is this year?

Also according to the executive, yes. The CEO commented that Windows 11 should be ready to be released on “new computers” starting this year — an aspect that has been suggested in other rumors. In early 2022, users coming from Windows 10 should receive the free update through Windows Update.

Still at the meeting, Nadella comments that the launch would take place in the autumn of the northern hemisphere (September-December) of this year. October is in this range, so the previously leaked information may be right about the launch window.

the own Microsoft raised this rumor recently, when it determined that developers must finalize their Windows 11 compatible drivers on September 24 of this year. So it’s almost certain that October will be the month the OS starts showing up on computers.
