The disappointment of widgets in Windows 11 is gradually being corrected. Another good news is that you can add classic geek to the menu widgets monitoring the use of system resources. The less good news is that, at least for now, they are not part of the basic equipment of the operating system.
They are added by the new developer application Dev Home, which you can get in the Store. It is a test version, which corresponds to the current implementation of the widgets. In the end, you don’t have to actively use the application, but you still won’t get the desired widgets without it. These are mainly widgets showing current CPU usage and graphic computing units and occupied memory and network capacity.
These widgets also have a graph recording the history of hardware usage, similar to what you know from the Task Manager. All are available in three sizes. The processor load monitoring widget allows you to immediately terminate the most demanding processes, so you don’t even need to go to Task Manager.

In the widgets for graphics units and networks, you can switch to monitoring another graphics card or network with the button. The average person almost certainly doesn’t need such widgets, but that can be said about a number of functions in Windows. For example, Sedmičky similarly offered widgets. Today, the first swallows for Windows 11 can’t be found in Stora, but they are paid widgets.
At the Build 2023 conference, the manufacturer announced that the widget menu will be wider and, most importantly, it will be possible to turn off the overview with articles. According to recent and unofficial information, widgets will be able to be pinned to the desktop. Coincidentally, Apple announced the same feature at the launch of macOS 14.
