Over the fall, Microsoft rolled out a number of new features to Windows 11, including Explorer tabs, taskbar additions, and a new Focus mode. All have been tested by users in the various Windows Insider programs before the official launch, where the activity has not stopped and more features are out there.
One of the latest additions is a new built-in screen recording tool, something that is currently missing. Microsoft has a tool through the Xbox Game Bar, but it requires some of the feature to be turned on, and some of the feature just records everything that happens on your screen. For those who want to be able to record individual windows or for other reasons do not want to activate the Xbox Game Bar, software from third-party developers is therefore worthwhile.
The new tool is a further development of the existing screen cropping tool, which is equipped with the ability to record what is happening on the screen. This can be done in full screen, but it is also possible to select a smaller area or a specific window.
Currently, the feature is only available to those participating in the Windows Insider “Developer Channel” and is rolling out on an ongoing schedule. Microsoft also warns that the feature is still experimental and, among other things, has some problems with startup response times.
