Now Windows 11 is here soon. Microsoft has officially launched the operating system and in addition we have already seen many leaked versions of it. Of course, each new operating system comes with many questions. Here are answers to some of the most common questions.
Windows 11 F.A.Q
What is Windows 11?
Windows 11 is the name of the next major overhaul of Windows 10, a new version that is different enough from its predecessor to justify a new version number. So it’s much more than just an update of Windows 10.
When will Windows 11 be released?
It has already happened. Windows 11 was officially unveiled by Microsoft at the company’s event on June 24. Here you can watch Microsoft’s launch event in replay:
When can I get Windows 11?
An official trial version of Windows 11 is already available for participants in the Windows Insiders program. However, the rest will have to wait until late autumn, or possibly closer to the Christmas weekend 2021 to download the system. There is no exact date yet, although there has been speculation about October.
The first computers with Windows 11 pre-installed are coming start selling already in the autumn. However, it will not be possible to update your current PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11 until 2022, Microsoft has confirmed.
How do I test Windows 11 today?
Windows 11 has been released as a beta version of the Windows Insider program. You need to join Insider, then open Windows Update and download the beta from the dev channel.

How much does Windows 11 cost?
We guess that a standalone copy of Windows 11 will cost about the same as Windows 10, around SEK 1,400 for Windows 10 Home (in the Microsoft store) and around SEK 2,400 for Windows 10 Pro.
But Microsoft also says that Windows 11 will be a free update from Windows 10, if you already have that system that is. Remember that Microsoft wants to make people jump on the Windows bandwagon by lowering the price of the operating system, and then selling services to the user. Like Microsoft 365 or Xbox Game Pass.
Will there be different versions of Windows 11?
Today, Microsoft refers to Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro as different versions of Windows, and it is likely that something similar will happen with Windows 11 as well.
Microsoft will also launch a Windows 11 variant of Windows 10 S. It will be called Windows 11 Home in S Mode.
What’s new in Windows 11?
Among other things, Windows 11 has a new interface on top of what in many ways looks like Windows 10. There is also a more compact, centered taskbar and start menu.
We have also noticed updated icons and a lot of other visual changes.

What happens to Windows 10?
Microsoft has said it plans to stop providing support for Windows 10 by 2025, and it still does. If Microsoft sees Windows 11 as a replacement for Windows 10, and a free one as such, we expect your PC to update automatically as soon as Microsoft is ready to begin shipping the new system.
Do you remember that Microsoft once said that Windows 10 would be the latest version of Windows? And that it would only be followed by minor updates? That does not seem to be the case, now we are here with Windows 11.
Microsoft will continue to update and patch Windows, no matter what number follows.
What are the system requirements for Windows 11?
This is by far the most controversial news in Windows 11. The system requirements are high, in fact surprisingly high. You need at least an eighth generation Intel Core processor, or Ryzen 2000. Older processors are not supported. Microsoft even denies several older Surface devices.
One reason for the high demands is that Windows 11 requires support for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), specifically the TMP 2.0 module which is usually integrated into newer processors.
So be prepared for more news on this front. Read and bookmark our article, which we update with the latest news system requirements for Windows 11.
If you are not in the least eager to update to Windows 11, it also seems, somewhat surprisingly, to go well. Microsoft has confirmed unexpectedly high system requirements to be able to update its computer to Windows 11. If your computer does not meet the requirements, you can not update.
But you can sit still in the boat if that should be the case. Microsoft will not retire Windows 10 until 2025.
What happens if my PC does not meet the system requirements?
In short, yes, but there is a but. You can participate in the Windows Insider program, select the dev channel, and then can Microsoft waives the normal rules during the beta period.
But as soon as Windows 11 is released to the masses, Microsoft has announced that computers that do not meet the hardware requirements will need to run Windows 10 instead.
Are there any new programs in Windows 11?
Not what we’ve seen so far, but Microsoft may add more news later.
Will a Windows 11 Mobile be released?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Almost certainly no.
Has anyone tested Windows 11?
Yep! Microsoft has officially released Windows 11 to Windows Insiders, which means we have been able to do a first test of the operating system. Ours test of windows 11 can be found here.
