Windows 10 with a billion installations

March 17, 2020 –
Microsoft has achieved a major goal, which was already announced for 2018, but ultimately took a little longer: Windows 10 counts a billion installations.

As Microsoft announces, the billion-dollar mark of Windows 10 installations has finally been broken. The goal of having the operating system distributed on one billion devices worldwide was announced in 2015 and should actually already be achieved in 2018, as was announced at the time (“Zdnet” reported). The goal was probably missed, among other things, because Windows 10 could never prevail as a mobile operating system. Furthermore, all companies in the Forrtune 500 now use Windows 10 devices without exception, as Microsoft proudly adds.

Microsoft, of course, wants to be even more widespread with Windows 10 than it is today. According to the blog post by Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Modern Life, Search & Devices at Microsoft: “Reaching a billion people with Windows 10 is just the beginning. We will not only invest in Windows 10 for PCs, but also also in many other Windows editions to meet different customer needs, including Windows IoT, Windows 10 Teams Edition for Surface Hub, Windows Server, Windows Mixed Reality on Hololens, Windows 10 in S-Mode, Windows 10X and more. ”
