Windows 10 version 2004 no longer has update defer options in settings menu – Computer – News

Mwah, Linux is also very good at killing itself.

How many times have I done a version update, and then you can’t get the bin to work because of kernel panics at the boat.
Or had the logging of something silly become so big that you couldn’t boot your OS anymore, because the entire drive was packed with 60+ GB of system.d errorlogs in plain text.
Or had you updated a window manager in the wrong order and my card was no longer recognized, and you can practically install half a 2nd OS next to it to fix it.

I have been participating in Linux for a long time now and I actually prefer it to Win 10. But it certainly has obstructions that are difficult to ignore. Not that Windows 10 has such a nice recovery, but Linux is also fragile in a number of areas. And debugging is not for everyone. After those ~ 12 years that I’ve been working on it, due to the many distros and adjustments over the years, my level of knowledge has remained almost the same in that area.

But Win 10 is truly the OS I have installed the fewest updates for ever. I usually do it every 9 months or so. Then I throw out my router-level blacklist (yay Linux) from the MS update services and Store and deliberately turn on one machine that is allowed to receive the update.

The advantage of Linux is that you can often just have almost everything you want. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort, but no one can stop you. MS and Apple are now really very different.

But an OS that just reboots and overwrites against DRIVERS against your wishes, resets your Application preferences and keeps installing deleted components and add-ware, right in the middle of your workday, is absolutely totally unacceptable …
