Windows 10: the Calculator application becomes graphical and it’s very practical!

The Windows 10 Calculator evolves in the Insider version of the operating system (build 19546): it becomes graphical. A feature that should appeal to high school students and students who must rely on their graphing calculator.

You will soon be able to put your TI-89 back in its drawer. Microsoft has just released a new build for Insiders of the Quick Ring. Surprisingly, the only real novelty of this build (19546) lies in the Calculator application – which is also available on the Microsoft Store. Suddenly we imagine that this version of the Calculator can eventually be downloaded separately.

Replace graphing calculators

Concretely, the application has a new graphic mode in which it is possible to draw curves from equations. You can easily analyze the graph by moving the mouse over it, to obtain precise values according to the position of the cursor. You can insert and adjust guides, and give a different color to each curve.

You can also attach secondary functions to them and change the curve dynamically using a slider. The general presentation is surprisingly practical. The new program should appeal to students who rely on their graphing calculator, as well as those who use sites to generate curves.

In the rest of this build, there is an application called Index Diagnostics. We could not test it, but it is described as a “Help to strengthen your understanding of research capabilities”. The update also fixes a bug in which the Timeline shows no activity.
