Windows 10 Preview updates fix blurred text, VPN, and gaming performance

Although the eyes of the whole world are now fixed on what is expected Windows 11, Microsoft developers are currently working on fixes for the current version of the operating system. This week, a preview – a test version – of two cumulative updates was released as part of the so-called “C” week. These updates are only available as an option because they have not been sufficiently tested. However, if your computer has been affected by any of these errors, installing this preview may be the solution. Otherwise, you have to wait for the update until Patch Tuesday in week “B” – the next one will take place in the second week of July.-

Let’s start previewing the monthly cumulative update KB5003698which promotes Windows 10 to build 18363.1645. It is designed for version 1909. As usual, it focuses mainly on bug fixes, so you will not lose any new features. Update KB5003698 addresses an issue that may occur when you use a VPN. In some cases, the error message “There are no more files” appeared when renewing user-uploaded certificates.

The developers also shone on blurred text on taskbarreported by users after the recent addition of News and Interests. While some users turned off this feature immediately after the update (this can be done easily with the right mouse button), others chose to try easy access to news or weather forecasts. In many cases, however, they noticed blurred text. And this error should be removed by update KB5003698. In the past, there should be a similar error displaying the search box on the taskbar after right-clicking on News and Interests.-

In addition, bugs that caused audio loss when connecting a second external monitor, non-functionality of FLAC music files after editing the title, artist, or other metadata, or prevented some screen-reading applications from reportedly resolved. You can find a list of all changes directly at Microsoft website. You will also read about the only known bug, which concerns the possible loss of system and user certificates. You can install the update through Windows Update (in the Optional Updates section), or by downloading it from the Microsoft Update Catalog.-

A cumulative update was also released KB5003690which brings an upgrade to build 19043.1081 for Windows 10 versions of Windows 10 2004, 20H2 and 21H1. In addition to some of the above changes (such as fixing a blurred taskbar), it also addresses error with performance in games, which first appeared in the KB5000842 preview of March 2021 and subsequently in the April cumulative update KB5001330. Although Microsoft has previously released a hotfix, the problem should persist for a small number of users. The latest update of KB5003690 should therefore mark the final point behind this bug.-
