The last October cumulative update for the Windows 10 appears to pose a host of serious problems for some users, including the disappearance of critical parts of the desktop interface.
This is happening to those who have applied the latest round of patches for the Windows 10 November 2019 Update and May 2020 Update, according to a report from Windows Latest.
There are a range of different problems, as mentioned above, although it is not yet known how widespread these individual bugs can be.
Some of the most troublesome issues occur in Windows 10’s main interface, unfortunately, with some users reporting that the file explorer itself became unstable after the update, as we have already seen.
In Microsoft’s Feedback Hub, a message says, “Task Manager appears and disappears continuously, and explorer crashes. This happens for 30 seconds, then the desktop comes back up and Explorer works again. Have KB4579311 [patch voor de Mei 2020 Update] removed and system starts normally. “
Lack-of-action center
Windows Latest has also observed here that the Action Center actually disappeared when installing Windows 10, with a blank screen appearing when accessing the window. This issue continued until the latest cumulative update was uninstalled, after which it disappeared.
It certainly looks like this update is causing major problems on the Windows 10 desktop.
Several general performance issues have also been reported, with PCs running slower since the October Update, and Blue Screen of Death crashes (which were also featured in a previous update) will also start to appear.
In addition, some users complain that the update is causing problems with their printer, as we have heard before, and they are then unable to use that device. Fortunately, the solution in this case is simple, as Windows Latest states: you simply have to disconnect the printer, reboot the PC and then reconnect the printer.
Finally, there are scattered reports of various network and internet problems, including a packet loss on networks.
All of this creates a lot of problems for Microsoft, it turns out, so check with us that fixes are coming soon, especially for these broken parts of the Windows 10 interface.
