Windies Legend Andy Roberts Criticizes Indian Team’s Arrogance and Batting Performance in World Test Championship Final

Oval: Criticism continues against the Indian team that lost miserably to Australia in the World Test Championship final. Windies pace legend Andy Roberts has recently come out with criticism against Rohit Sharma and his team.

Roberts said he was certain that India would be crushed in that Test before the World Test Championship final. The reason is the overconfidence and arrogance of the Indian players, said Roberts in an interview to Mid-Day newspaper. The Indian team was affected by arrogance. They underestimated every other competitor in the world. The Indian team must first decide which format to prefer. Be it Test or white ball cricket. But in T20 cricket, you can’t see only the battle between the ball and the bat.

In the beginning, I just hoped that India’s batting would be strong at the Oval. Only Ajinkya Rahane resisted in the first innings. Shubman Gill played some good shots at the crease but it didn’t last long. Often Gill was not ready to play on the back foot. When Australia scored 469 in the first innings, the only way forward for India was to chase. Seeing India go down without a fight in all the big matches is not new.

Therefore, when the Aussies scored 444 runs to win in the fourth innings, I realized that India had no chance. I have no such expectations. I was sure they would be devastated. Because, Andy Roberts said, India’s batting was so pathetic.
