The whirlwind suddenly came on Monday evening between 6 and 7 pm. The municipalities of Brasschaat and Kapellen were particularly affected. An old beech tree landed in the municipal park. The tree was in the middle of the castle meadow. Some smaller trees have also fallen around the castle meadow. The access roads to the castle meadow were closed.
On the Elshoutbaan between Brasschaat and Schoten a tree ended up on the road. The fire brigade was quickly on site to clean up everything, but the Elshoutbaan has been closed in one direction for a long time.
The whirlwind developed above the Heidestraat in Kapellen. He caused damage to several roofs and garden furniture flew around.
In the Maria-ter-Heide district of Brasschaat, some streets and intersections were flooded. Fortunately, there were no injuries anywhere. Broken branches are now being cleared up all over the park.
