A total of twelve provinces will be on warning this Saturday for wind, rain and storm on a day in which Córdoba and Seville will bear the brunt and will reach the red level due to rain, with expected cumulative amounts of 120 liters per square meter (l/ m2) in twelve hours, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
In turn, there will be orange level warnings due to rain in Cádiz and Huelva (Andalusia), as well as in Badajoz (Extremadura). Likewise, yellow level warnings due to rain will be registered in Jaén (Andalusia); Ávila and Salamanca (Castilla y León); Ciudad Real and Toledo (Castilla-La Mancha); and Cáceres (Extremadura). Meanwhile, there will be storm warnings in Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva and Seville (Andalusia); Salamanca (Castilla y León); Cáceres and Badajoz (Extremadura) and by wind on the Cantabrian slope of Navarra and the Navarrese Pyrenees (Foral Community of Navarra).
In general terms, AEMET foresees that the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands will continue under the influence of a low pressure system and its fronts. By area, it is expected that they will leave cloudy or overcast skies and widespread rainfall on the Atlantic and northeastern slopes of the peninsula. These will be persistent and may be locally strong or very strong and accompanied by storms in the west of the southern Atlantic slope, especially Atlantic Andalusia, Extremadura, Ciudad Real and the west of the Central System.
With less probability and in a weaker and more dispersed way, they could affect the rest of the Peninsula and the west of the Balearic Islands. Meanwhile, one of the fronts associated with the aforementioned low pressure system will leave probable rainfall in the north of the Canary Islands, which the state agency does not rule out in the center and south of the islands.
On the other hand, AEMET has announced that there will be a general increase in temperatures in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, which will be notable in the minimum temperatures in large areas of the center and northern interior. At the same time, the Canary Islands will not register major changes, except for a moderate rise in maximum temperatures in the east of the eastern islands. The provincial capitals that will register the highest values will be Murcia with 29ºC; Granada with 28ºC; and Palma and Santa Cruz de Tenerife with 27ºC.
Likewise, the prediction includes a predominance of light and moderate winds from southern and eastern components in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. In addition, strong intervals are possible in Ampurdán and the Gulf of Cádiz and very strong gusts in the eastern Cantabrian sea and peaks of the western Pyrenees, without also ruling out the peaks of the western Cantabrian sea. Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands the wind will blow from the west, which will tend to roll to the northwest, with strong intervals in peak areas.
