Wind power opponents receive the right to lodge a complaint | energate messenger Switzerland

Bern (energate) – The Federal Council has included the Swiss Free Landscape Association/Paysage libre Suisse in the list of organizations that are entitled to lodge complaints in the area of environmental, nature and heritage protection. The FLS meets the legal requirements for granting the right of association to lodge a complaint, according to a statement from Federal Bern. According to the relevant regulation, this right is available to organizations that are committed to protecting the environment or nature and heritage, have been active throughout Switzerland in the past ten years, pursue non-material purposes and do not carry out any economic activity.

The Swiss Free Landscape Association has so far appeared primarily as an opponent of wind power projects. He supported the referendum against the electricity law, which was subsequently approved by voters in June of this year. At the beginning of 2024, the association also launched the two popular initiatives “Forest Protection” and “Community Protection”. The first wants to ban the construction of wind turbines in forests, the second demands a right of co-determination for communities in the construction of wind turbines. /mj
