The JSS, housed in second place in the standings with the Libyans of Al-Ittihad (7 pts), and which remains on a good series of three games without defeat, will have to win to consolidate its chances of qualifying for the quarters final of the continental event.
Two lengths behind the leader Orlando Pirates, the formation of Béchar will have to pull out all the stops against the “Pirates” (1st, 9 pts), not only to climb to the top of the standings, but also to take a big step towards the next round.
“Our meeting against Orlando Pirates is important and decisive. Missteps are forbidden. It is imperative to win to get closer to the quarter-finals,” said Tunisian coach of JSS Kaïs Yaâkoubi.
In terms of the workforce, the JSS will be deprived of the services of defender Adel Bouchiba, suspended, but probably of attacking midfielder Ben Omar Mellal, who fell ill during the last match of the competition at home against Al-Ittihad ( 1-0).
“A possible draw would lead us into calculations, we want to avoid this possible scenario at all costs by aiming for victory on Sunday. With the exception of the Royal Leopards of Eswatini (red lantern with 0 points, editor’s note), the three teams keep their chances of qualifying intact,” he added.
For its part, Orlando Pirates, winner Wednesday at home against Supersport (3-2) in the South African championship, will travel to Algiers with the firm intention of winning and validating their ticket to the quarters.
In the other match of this group B, the Libyans of Al-Ittihad, who remain on a first defeat in the competition conceded in Algiers, will evolve on velvet at home against the Royal Leopards, already eliminated.
