Ron Mueck has become known for his extremely realistic sculptures and his play with scale enlargement and reduction. Each work – no matter how large or small – seems lifelike and charged with emotions, such as fear and uncertainty. As a result, the Australian artist with only a limited oeuvre grew into an internationally much-loved artist in 25 years. In Man in Blankets (2000), for example, he shows an adult man as and in the size of a swaddled baby, having fled from the world, while the almost 7-meter tall woman of In Bed (2005) seems lost in thought.
