Leicester City managed to beat Newcastle United 2-1 in continuation Premier League. The Foxes are still sticking to Liverpool and Manchester United.
Compete in St. James Park, Sunday (3/01/2021) evening WIB, Leicester were able to dominate the game as much as 58 percent of Newcastle in the first 15 minutes. However, The Foxes could only make one shot from James Maddison in the second minute and even then it was not yet on target.
Newcastle were actually able to make a threat in the 18th minute through a shot from Joelinton. He managed to win the aerial duel, but the ball can still be secured by Kasper Schmeichel.
The new Foxes were able to make another experiment in the 43rd minute. Youri Tielemans fired a shot from outside the penalty box, but the ball was not at the goal.
Leicester managed to excel first when the second half was 10 minutes, or to be precise in the 55th minute. Maddison completed a pass from Jamie Vardy and his left-footed shot ripped through Karl Darlow’s goal.
Maddison tries on 61 minutes from outside the penalty box. The ball shot still could not lead to the Newcastle goal.
Leicester increased the lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute. Tielemans receives the ball from Marc Albrighton and opens his shot from outside the penalty box. Darlow was unable to block the ball that slid into the net.
Newcastle managed to reduce the deficit to 1-2 in the 82nd minute. Andy Carroll, who entered in the 79th minute to replace DeAndre Yedlin, only needed three minutes to tear Leicester’s goal with a left footed shot.
A minute later Carroll threatened again. This time the ball shot was blocked by the opponent.
Leicester almost enlarged the lead at the end of the match had Darlow saved from Harvey Barnes’ shot from close range. Until the match is complete, the score 2-1 lasts for Leicester’s victory.
This victory temporarily brought Leicester up to third in the Premier League standings with 32 points from 17 matches. The Foxes only lost one point from Liverpool and Manchester United who played 16 times.
Newcastle have to settle for 15th place with 19 points from 16 matches. The Magpies are eight points from the relegation zone.
