Wimbledon 2021: Qualification – 1. round (results, Martin Kližan end of career)

LONDON. Slovak tennis player Martin Kližan lost in the 1st round of qualifying for the grand slam tournament in Wimbledon with the Czech Zdeněk Kolář in 58 minutes smoothly 1: 6 and 2: 6.

Lukáš Lacko also dropped out in the 1st round of qualification. He lost to the Serb Nikola Milojevic twice 4: 6.

Soon, 32-year-old Kližan lost his hand in both sets twice and capitulated after less than an hour.

Before the start of the recent challenger in Bratislava, Kližan announced that it would be his farewell to clay and that he planned to end his career after Wimbledon.

In the current ATP ranking, the Slovak player belongs to the 203rd position, Kolář is on the 221st place. Kližan was in the 24th position in singles in 2015.

Kližan’s grand slam high is the 4th round at the 2012 US Open in New York, in addition to the 3rd round, he won twice at the Roland Garros in Paris (2014 and 2019) and once at the Australian Open in Melbourne (2014).

He made it to the singles final seven times on the ATP circuit and won it up to six times. The last time was in August 2018 in Kitzbühel, Austria.

He also has an extraordinary final balance in doubles, in which he succeeded in each of the four participations.

During his career he achieved several great results, from the Top 10 he also defeated the Austrian Dominic Thiem (2018), the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, the Japanese Kei Nishikori (2014) and the Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (2012).
