The two Wiler cantonal councilors Erwin Böhi (SVP) and Andreas W. Widmer (FDP) jointly comment on the future WILWEST project.
On November 30th, in the first reading of the Cantonal Council, we discussed the special loan for the Wil West site development. The loan of more than CHF 35 million will mainly be used for the development, marketing and sale of the individual properties. It is a sustainable investment for several reasons: On the one hand, the money comes back through the sale of the state of Wil West. On the other hand, our region will receive a modern economic area with the potential of up to 3,000 jobs. If you look at other aspects such as the desired CO2 neutrality and the energy self-sufficiency of the future buildings, the new motorway exit (financed by the federal government), the separate cycle paths as well as the two additional stops of the Frauenfeld-Wil-Bahn and the Thurbo-Line and the new one With the bus offer in mind, the sum of the loan is even more sustainable.
With a view to the second reading next year, the government was given two orders: Talks with the canton of Thurgau about the design of the cantonal usage zone in the area of the municipality of Münchwilen are to be intensified. In addition, a more environmentally friendly route for the planned bypass road in Bronschhofen is to be examined, which will serve to relieve the Wiler city center.
The canton’s electorate is expected to have the last word on the Wil West special loan next year. We hope that the citizens will recognize this opportunity and agree to the loan, so that in a few years we can reap the fruits of the long years of planning. It is about the future-oriented further development of the Wil region, which as the gateway to Eastern Switzerland will have a positive influence on the entire canton.
