Wilson loses on return to Seattle

Quarterback Russell Wilson suffered a National Football League (NFL) defeat upon his return to Seattle with the Denver Broncos.

With his new team, Wilson lost 16:17 to the Seattle Seahakws on Monday night. A field goal attempt by the Broncos from 64 yards that failed by one inch sealed the defeat.

After ten years with the Seahawks, Wilson pitched for 340 yards in his first NFL game for his new team, but only managed one touchdown and failed several times with the Broncos close to goal. His successor Geno Smith pulled out two touchdown passes and was also left without an interception.

While Wilson was greeted mostly with boos and whistles, Smith often gave Seattle fans a reason to cheer and put the home team ahead with a good attack and first touchdown pass. The Broncos still drew at 10:10, but twice they lost seemingly safe points with ball losses at the opponent’s one-yard line.

The decision of new Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett to attempt a long range basket and not let Wilson use the remaining time has caused a lack of understanding in the US media.
