Environment Senator Jens Kerstan: “The certified people encourage people to take part in a change in our way of life and economy that takes planetary limits into account. Courage that we can really use in times of the corona pandemic. With these certified people, we can rely on the issues of climate and resource protection, solidarity and participation in education being addressed and passed on. The NUN-certified convey topics of sustainability in a technically competent manner and orientate themselves on the worldwide concept of an education for sustainable development, which is promoted by the UNESCO. “
The quality development in extracurricular education for sustainable development through the NUN certificate is a proven model for success and an important component in the “Hamburg Master Plan ESD 2030”. The ESD master plan is an educational strategy that was developed with broad participation in Hamburg’s educational landscape. It is currently in the political vote.
Hamburg has been awarding the NUN certificate since 2014. The SOF Save Our Future – environmental foundation organizes the certification procedure and the quality development process. In the four participating NUN states Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein, over 100 actors have already been certified.
The new NUN certified:
Minitopia is a platform, nucleus and playground for urban self-sufficiency. The site of an old truck workshop in Wilhelmsburg has become a gem and meeting place for everyone who is interested in finding out whether and how we can still provide for ourselves with the resources on site and mutual support in the city. Forgotten methods are tested and new concepts tried out: from gardening to metalwork, carpentry, sewing. As part of the full day, the Minitopia team offers afternoon courses for schoolchildren. With the Lüttville e. V. once a year, Minitopia becomes the location for the SÜDWÄRTS youth festival with music, art and workshops that you can do yourself, free and outdoors.
The House of the Wild Willows of the Foundation Nature in the North is a place of learning in the nature reserve Höltigbaum in Rahlstedt. The major global relationships can be concretely experienced here through concrete phenomena in nature, e.g. The team accompanies kindergarten and elementary school groups for a whole year as part of the Wilma-von-den-Wilde-Weiden project, for example with educational offers such as guided tours, lectures, workshops or holiday programs.
With the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) the Hamburg Authority for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture (BUKEA) in Wilhelmsburg offers a year of ecological and political education and orientation for young people after graduation. The volunteers gain their first professional experience in their daily work in their locations. In the accompanying seminar weeks, the young people themselves take the lead and work on topics such as consumption, climate and resource protection or nutrition.
Constance Müller, Qualified ecotrophologist, from Hummelsbüttel works under the company name “nährmehr”. Food and nutrition, hygiene and cleaning. Prevention and lifestyle: In seminars, (cooking) workshops and training courses, Constanza Müller advises daycare centers, schools, caterers, communities and other public institutions and supports them in making the areas of nutrition, hygiene and cleaning sustainable.
