Musician Willy Anggawinata released a single titled Sunyinya Malam. The song can be heard exclusively on digital music service, Resso.
In Sunyinya Malam, Willy Anggawinata talks about the loneliness experienced by many people. According to him, when making the song, he was not only inspired by his personal experience, but also from the stories of the people around him.
“About the phase of human life where we must have felt alone, lonely, we have many friends but no one really understands us. It could also be when we are abandoned by the people we love,” said Willy Anggawinata in a virtual press conference , Tuesday (3/8/2021).
“(The song Sunyinya Malam comes from) there is (personal) experience, the experience of friends too. So I made it into one song,” he continued.
According to Willy Anggawinata, the creative process of composing the song went smoothly. Since the beginning, Resso, as his collaborator in releasing the single, has provided direction regarding the theme of the song.
For Willy, it made it easier for him to find the lyrics and tone for the song.
“From his side, Resso contacted me, ‘Try to make a song with this vibe’. I saw that it was really dark. That was my first inspiration. ,” he explained.
“I started from the chorus. When I got the chorus, I continued to work on the verse,” he continued.
Willy Anggawinata started his musical career in 2014. At that time, he joined a music group called Eclat Story. He and his music group often bring covers of famous musicians on their YouTube account.
After leaving the band, Willy Anggawinata tried his luck by going solo and writing his own songs. Sunyinya Malam is the 10th song owned by Willy.
The collaboration with Willy Anggawinata, according to Resso, is part of their commitment to introduce potential newcomers to Indonesian music listeners.
Later, Resso tried to attract artists whose cover songs are known through the social network TikTok to have their own works.
Artist & Music Development Manager of Resso Indonesia, Matthew Tanaya, said the ongoing collaboration between his party and newcomer musicians aims to introduce the original character of the artist. In collaboration with Willy, Resso tried to introduce his figure not only as a singer, but also a songwriter.
“Like Willy, we started with a cover artist project because we were looking for something viral on TikTok. Next, we saw what the artist needed. For Willy, we saw that he has talent in song-writing. When we approached Willy for this song, could it or not write songs with a vibe that’s trending on TikTok,” said Matthew.
“We want to make another original for that content. So the collaboration is always connected to the story that belongs to the artist,” said Matthew again.
