When Art asks how the former presenter is doing, he responds succinctly: “Shit.” He lets it be known that he “normally does not get out of the chair” and that he also does not get into his bed, but that he is now “reasonably well” during Art’s visit. Willibrord says he has an “aggressive form” of the disease, so it speeds up the process and he doesn’t know how long he has left to live.
While enjoying a shot, Willibrord explains that he is considering euthanasia. “I can do euthanasia, already,” he says. “But the closer it gets, the more I postpone it again. Because you don’t want to die,” he continues.

Despite the fact that he does not want to die yet, the former presenter indicates that there are also days where he does want to. “I have days when I’m so sick and so disordered and so exhausted. Then I think: well, it would be a blessing if I could get out of the pipe now,” he tells Art. Despite the fact that he feels a lot of pain and sometimes wishes: ‘If only I were dead’, it is his children and grandchildren who still keep him alive. “Then I see my daughter or my grandchild come in and I think: let me wait a little longer, friend,” he says.
Rooijakkers Over The Floor can be seen every Wednesday at 9.30 pm on RTL 4.
