“William Fehoko: A Rising Star in the NFL with Impressive Credentials and Strong Lineage”

William Fehoko, Defensive line, San Jose State

Three things you should know:

  • MWC Defensive Player of the Year (2022)
  • 2x First Team All-MWC
  • Cousin of Bucs Pro Bowl lineman Vita Vea

Fehoko spends it in the opposite backfield. It’s not entirely hard to see why, when you consider his lineage: cousin to defensive superstar Vita Vea. You can see some shared traits between the two in terms of the ability to attack the backfield often, but more so for Fehoko as Vea is designed to stop the run while Fehoko is on the edge and uses her natural curve and quickness to attack potential blockers.

His size gives him exactly what Dan Quinn wants as far as being able to use him on the edge in 4-3 plays or slide his technique into one spot when it comes to a three-man front. His intensity is always there, in that sense he’s a lot like former second-round pick (2022) Sam Williams, who displays pure aggression off the serve.

Fehoko gives everything in each play.

He has a good mix of power (lots of power) and finesse that will help him in whatever flexible assignment Quinn and coach Mike McCarthy throw at him. He now has a great opportunity to learn from DeMarcus Lawrence, Micah Parsons and veterans like Dante Fowler and Dorance Armstrong as well. If you watch (or have ever seen) Fehoko play, you’ll immediately notice the violence he chooses in every play; and that will work well on Dallas’ opportunistic defense.

Once he gets better control and overall consistency, he’s going to be a very real problem in the NFL. He led San Jose State in tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumbles in back-to-back seasons, also breaking up five passes in 2021.

Don’t overlook the instant competition Fehoko will bring to the Cowboys’ training camp and roster overall.
