The last race on the Monster Mile in Dover ended with a third win for William Byron

Motorsport-Magazin.com – The last virtual race of the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series on the ‘Monster Mile’ in Dover was won by William Byron. After 150 laps, a Hendrick driver again won the sixth race. Byron celebrated the third success in the last four races with 79 laps after another strong performance.
Start: The usual suspects at the front again
After qualifying with 37 drivers, Ross Chastain and Garrett Smithley started from the front row. The top 3 from Talladega with the winner Alex Bowman started the race from the very back with no qualifying time. The national anthem and the starting command were presented by David Hasselhoff and Blake Sheldon. Pole setter Chastain led the first laps before Parker Kligerman took command through lap 14. Then follows the first yellow phase, which was triggered by the Mexican Daniel Suarez.
After the pit stops, Denny Hamlin, who had already set the fastest time in qualifying, took the lead. On lap 23, the second caution followed by Parker Kligerman, who was promoted to the gang by Timmy Hill. The leaders made a pit stop and two-time winner William Byron was in front. Byron won the restart ahead of Landon Cassill and Kurt Busch.

Within ten rounds, Hamlin was able to gain seven positions and was back in the top 10 before the third caution stopped his forward thrust. There were again pit stops and with Smithley a new leader. After a third of the race distance, Byron was leading again after 50 laps, ahead of Hill, Smithley, Hamlin and Bowman. Shortly afterwards there was another yellow card and pit stops. This was followed by a Hendrick double lead by Talladega winner Bowman and Byron, who took the lead on lap 66.
The fifth caution came on lap 73 through JJ Yeley. Due to the constant interruptions of the race every ten laps or less, there were many position changes after the pit stops in the middle part of the race. On lap 83 there was the next restart with Leader Hill. A longer green phase followed. Behind Hill, Byron was second, ahead of John Hunter Nemechek, Bowman and Hamlin. On lap 99, Byron again took first place. Suarez turned Bowman on lap 106 and that was the seventh caution perfect. Byron won the race in the pit lane and the subsequent restart.

On lap 134, Hamlin was sent into the wall by Nemechek while lapping. After the pit stops, Hill was now leading Smithley, Cassill, Chastain and Byron. The strong Hamlin was only in 16th position. Hill and Byron pulled away a little. With six laps to go, Byron overtook rival Hill and Bell also overtook Hill. Hamlin was sixth again. Byron kept the lead and took the third win in the last four races. Bell came in second ahead of Hill, Erik Jones, Michael McDowell and Hamlin.
