This shot backfired badly: What was intended under the label of the 70th anniversary of the throne as a charm attack by the British royal family on the remaining Commonwealth states in the Caribbean – carried out by Queen Elizabeth’s immaculate darlings Prince William and Duchess Kate – , only aroused irritation, resistance and protest in Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas. Even photo reports of diving with sharks, reggae drumming and dances by the royal couple fizzled out.
The tradition, which is always and especially sung as a strength with this anniversary, is the Queen’s heaviest mortgage: for 70 years, the now very old woman with the wavy hair only managed her crumbling empire and never really took the displeasure at the crimes of earlier times seriously. Through their epic tenure, son Charles was unable to implement his approaches and indulged in personal problems, other family members like his brother Andrew totally derailed.
William has to pay for what has long since been buried
And Charles’ son William is now struggling to carry out the task of partial state leadership with dignity. How should he, he never could train properly.
No fault of their own: Paralyzed by the drama surrounding his mother, Lady Di, he and his brother Harry have been shielded from political realities for longer than their roles and the kingdom could benefit from. William is currently just the messenger who delivers bad news. Let’s hope his much wiser wife will give him strong support in this tricky task.
