Third hit
Willem II was clearly the superior team and deservedly took the lead after eight minutes. Right back Julian Lelieveld was too late and brought down Cisse Sandra in the sixteen-meter area. Striker Vaesen took advantage of the golden opportunity from the penalty spot with his third goal of the season: 1-0. A little later, goalkeeper Thomas Didillon-Hödl made a good save on a blazing shot from Denilho Cleonise. The only good chance for the visitors in the first half.
Ringo Meerveld
With a beautiful solo Ringo Meerveld parried a number of RKC defenders and with a magnificent shot he provided the second Tilburg goal after half an hour: 2-0. The home team had got the taste and could have decided the match before half time. A shot by Jesse Bosch ended on the post and not much later a header by Sandra again shaved the outside of the same post.
Changes
With three substitutions including the full-backs Julian Lelieveld and Aaron Meijers, RKC Waalwijk tried to make something of the match in the second half. However, it was already smitten after eight minutes. From the left side, Nick Doodeman crossed the ball, which flew into the goal via Roshon van Eijma over the bewildered RKC keeper Jeroen Houwen: 3-0.
Victory
Runar Thor Sigurgeirsson, Jeremy Bokila and Jesse Bosch still took RKC Waalwijk under fire, but goalkeeper Jeroen Houwen saved three times well. After 94 minutes of play it was time to celebrate the victory with an ovation with the home crowd. Next Saturday, number three FC Utrecht awaits the Tricolores in the Domstad.
