Willem II drew for the third time in a row on Friday. The Kitchen Champion Division leader did not get further than a 1-1 draw at home against SC Cambuur. ADO Den Haag won at TOP Oss and advanced towards the Tilburg team.
Remarkably, Willem II drew 1-1 for the third time in a row. This was also the result at home against Jong Ajax and away against Jong PSV.
Cambuur quickly took the lead in Tilburg on Friday through Milan Smit, who converted a penalty. Thijs Oosting leveled the score after 22 minutes. There were no more goals despite a final offensive from Willem II.
ADO benefited from the leader’s draw and won 1-3 at TOP Oss against former coach Ruud Brood. Kürsad Sürmeli beautifully opened the score on behalf of ADO, by curling a free kick into the top corner.
Henk Veerman and Jort van der Sande provided a large lead for The Hague before half time. Just before half-time, Konstantinos Doumtsios did something back, but ADO no longer faltered.
Thanks to the three-pointer, the Hague team rose to second place and now stands at 46 points, five less than leader Willem II. Roda JC dropped to third place, but will only come into action on Monday (against Jong AZ).
MVV crushes Telstar, VVV strikes late
MVV left no stone unturned for Telstar in-house. The Maastricht team won 6-1, thanks in part to two goals from former De Graafschap player Bryan Smeets.
VVV-Venlo struck in injury time against Jong PSV, after the team had previously given away a 2-0 lead. This happened partly because Richard Sedlácek received a red card at a 2-1 score. Pepijn Doesburg, grandson of former international Pim Doesburg, scored the winning score: 3-2.
NAC and De Graafschap did not score in Breda, while FC Emmen drew 1-1 against FC Eindhoven. FC Den Bosch and Helmond Sport did not score in their mutual match. FC Groningen lost fifth place to FC Dordrecht, which was too strong 1-0 in a mutual match.
