Willem II and Roda JC won on Friday evening in the 34th round of the Kitchen Champion Division. In doing so, they put the pressure on FC Groningen, which only plays against VVV-Venlo on Sunday. ADO Den Haag lost to Helmond Sport and seems to have forgotten about direct promotion.

Willem II shocked the fans again against a promising team five days after the disgrace against bottom-of-the-table Jong FC Utrecht (1-1). Jong AZ took the lead via Finn Stam, who surprised goalkeeper Joshua Smits in the short corner. Willem II reversed the deficit in the first half via a touched shot from Max Svensson and a hard shot from Rob Nizet. After the break, Jeredy Hilterman was in the right place to score the third goal.
The Tilburg team ended the game with ten men due to a second yellow card from Amine Lachkar. With one man down, substitute Michael de Leeuw made it 4-1 in injury time with a beautiful header. This means that Willem II is now nine points ahead of number three FC Groningen, which will play later this weekend.
Number two Roda JC had a very simple evening against TOP Oss. After more than a quarter of a match it was already 0-3. Twice it was Arjan van der Heide, once with some luck and once with a clever shot in the short corner. Sami Ouaissa also scored a goal. After an hour, Václav Sejk scored the fourth Limburg goal. Delano Ladan did something back (1-4), but it was to no avail for TOP Oss.
ADO Den Haag has done itself a disservice against Helmond Sport. Both teams failed to score and the match seemed to be heading for a bloodless draw. Due to a huge mistake at the back by 22-year-old Gylermo Siereveld, who headed the ball back too short, Martijn Kaars scored the winning goal for Helmond Sport just before the end. ADO is now twelve points behind number two Roda JC and must focus on promotion via the play-offs.
NAC had a dream start at home against the surprisingly well-performing FC Dordrecht. Matthew Garbett, who appeared to be offside, was at the end of a nice Breda attack within a minute. Then it was Dordrecht’s turn. Due to a dry slide from Mathis Suray, Ilias Sebaoui taking advantage of fumbling at the back and headed goals from René Kriwak and Korede Osundina, FC Dordrecht was ahead 1-4 after three quarters of the game.
De Graafschap has achieved an easy victory over Telstar. The visitors took the lead through Alex Plat, but goals from Simon Colyn and Super farmers things were quickly put back in order. In the final minutes, De Graafschap made it a big result. Donny Warmerdam, Schenk (once again) and Tristan van Gilst made it 5-1.
The MVV, which is in dire straits, showed the necessary resilience against FC Emmen. They fell behind due to a brilliant inspiration from Vicente Besuijen, who scored from the center circle. In the second half, MVV made it 1-2 through Mart Remans and Dailon Rocha Livramento. In injury time the 1-3 came to Nicky Souren. FC Emmen also loses the first match after the dismissal of Fred Grim, is now in twelfth place and is in danger of missing the play-offs.

At FC Eindhoven there was once again reason to cheer for Mart Lieder. For the first time since his return, he found the net again in the Kitchen Champion Division. However, it was a fairly modest party, because at that moment city rivals Jong PSV were already 0-2 ahead thanks to goals from Jevon Simons and Mohamed Nassoh. Jong PSV later made it 1-3 from a counter through Tai Abed, followed by Evan Rottier’s 2-3, Emmanuel van de Blaak’s 2-4 from a penalty and Nassoh’s 2-5.
