Will WhatsApp let you edit messages already sent?: Find out here

The same thing happens on Twitter and WhatsApp: if you send a text message that has a typo or something you want to correct or edit, you have to delete it, compose it again and send it. But in Telegram it is not like that, since the app allows you to edit the text message that you have sent (and marking the message with the word ‘edited’ to indicate that there have been changes). And it also allows you to do it up to a maximum of 48 hours, that is, you can edit messages that you sent two days ago.

And it seems that, at last, that function will come to WhatsApp.

Edit messages on WhatsApp

As the WABetaInfo experts tell us, who break down each new line of code in the Beta versions of the application to tell us what’s new to come, WhatsApp is working on allowing users to edit their text messages for a future update of the application, something that by the way already announced 5 years ago on Twitter, but that was discarded in just days.

As seen in this screenshot, WhatsApp is working on an edit button that will allow us to edit the text messages, and at last correct any typos after sending a message. There probably won’t be an edit history to check previous versions of edited posts, but since this feature is in development, your plans may change before the feature is released.

Matter of time

Another thing that is also not known is the window of time to allow people to edit their posts that Meta will implement. We have already pointed out that in Telegram it has a maximum of 48 hours, will WhatsApp allow the same, or will it be a shorter time?

Since this feature is under development, it is not yet known even when it will be released in the WhatsApp Beta version of Android and iOS – which is usually the prelude for a new feature to be released generally in the application. But the fact that it is again among the WhatsApp plans could not be better news.
