The controversial new one WhatsApp The privacy policy gives cause for concern about account suspension and deletion. With the upcoming February 8, 2021 deadline, those who refuse to accept the new terms are increasingly concerned about their future account balance. Will WhatsApp delete accounts on February 8th? Here’s the latest on the situation.
Will WhatsApp suspend accounts on February 8, 2021?
Instant messaging application WhatsApp has announced that it will soon be sharing its user data with Facebook. Of course, a lot of people are not happy about that. Many users have already switched in response to Signal – a competing app with better data processing policies. But will those who stay and refuse to accept the new privacy policy be banned for it?
No WhatsApp accounts will be suspended, banned or deleted on February 8, 2021. WhatsApp has delayed the rollout of its new privacy policy due to backlash from its users, but also, accounts will not be deleted because of rejection policy changes when they are finally implemented. The new WhatsApp terms will be available from May 15, 2021.
We will ensure that users have sufficient time to review and understand the terms. Rest assured, we never planned to delete accounts on this basis, and we will not do so in the future.

The delay was officially confirmed in a WhatsApp blog post. The app will take this opportunity to “do a lot more to address the misinformation about how privacy and security work”. After that, users are “step-by-step” and given time to “review the policy at their own pace”.
WhatsApp, while reassuring users that they will not be banned in relation to the new policy, does not directly address the outcome for those who oppose it. Although their accounts may not be deleted, a certain level of access may (hypothetically) be restricted. Essentially, this would serve as an indefinite suspension. We will do our best to keep you informed as the situation evolves.
In other WhatsApp messages, users who receive a warning about a so-called “Argentina hack” should not be affected.
