Recently, concerns that the giant asteroid 2018 AH will approach and crash into the Earth at the end of this month have been on the agenda of the scientific world. Some scientists have warned that if the celestial body in question hits the Earth, massive human and material destruction may be encountered.
Turkey Space Agency (TUA), on the other hand, put the end to the rumors with a statement made on its social media account.
‘Are we going to be hit by an asteroid?’ Dangerous asteroids that could cause a global catastrophe are extremely rare.
??Information that a large asteroid is approaching the Earth, has been served by some organizations in the media that it will hit the Earth on December 27th.

“IT IS NOT EXPECTED TO STRIKE THE WORLD”
The statement said, “The threshold size of the asteroids in this definition is considered to be between half a kilometer and 1 km. These objects affect the Earth on average only once every 1000 centuries,” the statement said.
While it was reported that the asteroid named 2018 AH was not expected to hit the Earth, it was stated that “This asteroid will pass approximately 4.5 million km from the Earth. This distance is almost 12 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.”
