On August 2, 1958, on his 18th birthday, Will Tura performs under that stage name for the first time. More than 60 years and 10,000 performances, the singer, now 82 years old, puts an end to the concerts. “The feeling of performing live with a band is incomparable. But after 10,000 times it has been good. It is now up to Arthur Blanckaert to enjoy life,” says Will Tura in Het Laatste Nieuws.
“At the beginning of my career, I could never have imagined that I would be allowed to sing so often. I loved every moment on stage and can’t thank my fans enough.”
“Whether I have put Will Tura completely in the stable? Of course not. I will continue to play and compose at home. But now I mainly let things come to me. (…) You know, nothing has to be done yet, some things are still allowed That’s a nice feeling.”
