The nomads that came to the plateau in the eastern Anatolia started to shed the wool of sheep and lambs both in order to be protected from heat and to relax and increase the meat and milk yields during the days when the weather warmed and the Eid al-Adha approached.
Nowadays when the Feast of the Sacrifice is approaching and the weather is warming, the nomads in Eastern Anatolia who want to both protect their animals from heat and increase their meat and milk yields are shearing the wool of sheep and lambs.
In the region, which has a say in the country in terms of the presence of bovine and ovine animals, the herds of animals fed in the folds in winter are taken to high altitude plateaus with rich vegetation with the melting of the snow by the nomads.
After the harsh winter season, the immigrants in the region, which took their animals to the plateaus like May, have started to care for their sheep in order to prevent the animals from getting overwhelmed by the heat as well as to relax and gain weight before the Eid al-Adha.
During this process called “Kırkım”, the migrants who not only shed their wool, but also fulfill all their requirements from pesticide to nail care, sell the wool they obtained from the sheep after a gathering process called “fleece” and obtain a little income.
During this period, the nomads, who took their victims to a strict diet, had a difficult time with the family during the forty.
Sheep and her daughters who catch their lambs one by one, lay down on their feet and tie their feet, and they pay special attention not to hurt pregnant women.
Sheep and lambs, which are rejoined by shearing their wool and taking necessary care, are relieved by their owners without getting overwhelmed by the heat, and they are released to pasture again and grazed.
Sheep and lambs, which are grazed in the highlands and pastures, are offered for sale on the Festival of Sacrifice after they are given different feeds.
The flurry of nomadic families increases during the Crimea

Musa Gümüştaş stated that he contributed to the family economy by coming to the plateau to help his father in the summer.
Pointing to the difficulty of shearing sheep, Gümüştaş continued his words as follows.
“We shear the sheep, we collect their wool. We do this once a year. This is beneficial for the sheep, it makes them more meaty and gives more milk. The reason we do this is our livelihood, livestock. We do not have to deal with other works, we do the work we know. I am not here, my father is alone, doing this job with my mother, it is difficult. My father has been here for about 2 months, at least I have come to help my family in order to lighten their business a little. “
Explaining that he was preparing for the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), Gümüştaş said, “There is KPSS in September but life is difficult here as well. The weather has warmed, we need to shear sheep. Sheep are also sweating because of their wool.” used the expression.
