Will there be a complete lockdown of the country, here are the options

The National Operational Headquarters (NSS) and not the regional health inspectorates will decide to impose the new anti-epidemic measures, writes Flagman.bg.

This is the reason why yesterday’s meeting of the Regional Anti-Epidemic Headquarters in Burgas did not take cardinal decisions with the closure of malls, gyms and kindergartens.

We remind you that yesterday all public events in the region were suspended, as well as the resource for treatment of covid patients was increased.

As of Saturday, there will be 551 beds, and each health facility will have to provide at least 30% of its capacity for coronavirus.

At the peak of the second wave, the beds were 521. Now the forecasts are for even more serious pressure on the health system.

Because of this, today the medical classes have demanded the imposition of an immediate closure of everything, because they are at their limit, and according to their calculations, the real peak has not yet occurred.

The decision of the National Operational Headquarters is expected, which will be announced tomorrow at 10 o’clock.

According to the available information, it is possible to impose a 14-day lockdown, which will start on Saturday for Sofia and on Monday for the whole country.

There are two ideas discussed.

The first is the closure of everything – kindergartens, schools, malls, restaurants, hotels, non-food hypermarkets and mandatory wearing of masks outdoors.

The idea is this time not to have a double standard – not to allow, for example, for a modest sum to register as a guest at the hotel and use the restaurant, as well as not to have large accumulations in non-essential sites. The medical community advocates this idea.

The political seeks the pragmatic solution. The demands are for a partial lockdown for two weeks with the closure of malls, gyms, cinemas, kindergartens and schools.

The others will remain working, but under intensified inspections, including restaurants. For them the requirement will be up to 22 hours and up to 50% of their capacity.

Meanwhile, today the largest restaurant organizations, the Association of Restaurants in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Association of Restaurants, called for non-discriminatory measures.

“All or nothing. The idea of a partial two-week closure of gyms, malls and restaurants will not lead to the necessary results, and no one believes that the lockdown will be in 14 days.

Such a blocking period will be possible only if it covers absolutely all sites and state institutions, except for those of first necessity, “the branch organizations wrote in their opinion.
