Will the veils return? The epidemiologist said when they could be mandatory again

“I think we should go back to that sometime in October,” he said of the obligation to wear veils on the show 20 minutes of Radiožurnál epidemiologist and head of the working group for dismantling preventive measures Rastislav Maďar.

He explained that none of the symptoms would be clear that there was no coronavirus infection, and that there was a need to keep other respiratory diseases to a minimum and not to overwhelm the Covid-19 testing system with people with other respiratory diseases. Thanks to the measures introduced to combat coronavirus, the number of seasonal diseases has been significantly reduced in winter and spring.

“I hope it brings such a decrease in common respiratory infections that it can then be better corrected to monitor the entry of coronavirus into at-risk populations. But the most important thing is that people with symptoms, whatever they may be, may not be coronavirus among people, “stressed the epidemiologist.

The Hungarian also reminded that the idea that Czechs should start wearing veils again is his personal opinion, on which a working group of the Ministry of Health has not yet commented. On Monday, it began to address what the Czechia expects in the autumn.

“We haven’t discussed it yet, but I plan to write his opinions on it so that we can sit down and consult it,” the Hungarian replied to the question whether he had already addressed the issue of reintroducing the obligation to wear veils with the Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch.

The Czechs got rid of the veil in most of the territory on July 1. They remained mandatory only, for example, in the Prague metro or in the Karviná region, where the epidemiological situation is the worst. Due to local outbreaks, however, the obligation to wear veils was reintroduced in the Kutná Hora and Jihlava regions.

According to the Hungarian, the situation in the Karviná region is stable – there is no community transmission, newly infected people have ties to those who have become infected in the mines, and patients have only mild symptoms, searching for their contacts works well and the virus does not spread throughout the Czech Republic.
