Will the Touch Bar Panel Disappear in the Latest Generation of Macbook Pro?

APPLE rumored to be replacing the Touch Bar panel on the latest generation MacBook Pro. The Touch Bar panel that Apple just introduced on October 27, 2016 in the MacBook Pro is expected to be replaced as a place to place the Apple Pencil.

The Touch Bar panel is positioned above the keyboard of the MacBook Pro which was previously used to place the F1 through F12 keys.

Launch 9To5Mac, the office that manages Apple’s patents and trademarks in the US explained that changing the Touch Bar panel into a place to put the Apple Pencil is possible.

“This innovation will be related to the incorporation of a removable Apple Pencil on the top of the MacBook. When the Apple Pencil is in place, it can function as a mouse that can move the cursor,” explains Apple’s US trademark and patent office.

Yanko Design’s Twitter account has also made several illustrations related to the shape and design of the MacBook Pro if Apple really realizes this innovation.

Because if this innovation is actually realized, of course it will take a long time, so if Apple will adapt this innovation, it certainly won’t be launched in the near future.

In the illustration it is shown that the Touch Bar panel does not completely disappear, but is only reduced in size. The Touch Bar panel at the top right will still work for using Siri and quickly accessing some apps.

In addition to an explanation from Apple’s patent and trademark office in the US, this innovation is believed to be a material consideration for Apple, considering that the iPad Pro has recently become one of Apple’s best-selling products.

Therefore, Apple could later design the MacBook Pro screen to be a touch screen so that the Apple Pencil function can be used.

But on the other hand, Craig Federighi as Apple’s Vice President of Software Engineering previously mentioned at the end of 2020 that the touch screen feature on Mac and MacBook products was not included in one of Apple’s plans.

“We have designed and developed the appearance of macOS in such a way that users feel comfortable and until now we have not considered implementing touch screen features in our products,” he explained. (cit)
