This is the third time that the “Road to the Final” event is taking place at FIFA Ultimate Team. The focus is on players who are active in the Champions League and the Europa League. We give you all the information about “RTTF”.
At the beginning of November EA started the “RTTF” event over two weeks. On November 6th there was a complete team with new UCL live cards, a week later five more players were added.
However, a third team for “Road to the Final” was announced as part of the “Freeze” event. When that will appear has not yet been announced. We think it could come on Friday December 18th.

A new event has not yet been announced for the day, and EA has released all the big news regarding FUT events on Friday at FIFA 21. The timing was also a good fit, because on December 14th the pairings for the round of 16 of the Champions League and the intermediate round of the Europa League were drawn.
In addition, after the end of the group phase, the field of participants in both competitions halved. Accordingly, there were the first upgrades on the cards of the players who made it into the next round in the past week.
Which players come into Team 3 at “RTTF”?
Of course, it is particularly difficult at such events to predict which players EA will add to the upcoming team. Because, in contrast to the Team of the Week, there is no particularly good performance in advance, basically any player can be taken.
Two streamers on Twitter have joined forces in order to put together a possible eleven who could get a new card as part of “Road to the Final”.

What actually is an “RTTF” card?
“RTTF” stands for “Road to the Final”. In German EA Sports speaks of “The way to the final”. The special feature: Similar to the “Ones to Watch” cards, these cards are dynamic, ie they can improve. Unlike the Ones to Watch cards, which improve when a player performs well, these cards will be upgraded when the team does well in European competition. Whether the player is used is irrelevant.

The players will be available in packs for a week after the release, at the same time there are also SBCs and tasks to get such RTTF cards.

The final SBC is for a player who has been very popular in recent years – while still in the service of West Ham United. Felipe Anderson now plays for FC Porto and was given an 84 card.
There were weekly tasks for these Champions League players
Players could not only be obtained through Squad Building Challenges, but weekly tasks also gave the opportunity to acquire “UCL Live” cards. A card came in week one and week two.

After there was a defensive player in the weekly tasks in the first week, an offensive player followed a week later. Joaquin Correa from Lazio received an 84 card as a striker.
How do I get an “RTTF” card?
All RTTF cards can be drawn in packs for one week after they appear and then purchased on the transfer market. Exceptions are cards that become available via Squad Building Challenges or as a task.

When does an “RTTF” player get an upgrade?
The card is then upgraded if his club achieves certain successes in European competition:
UEFA Champions League-Upgrades:
- Reaching the knockout round
- First leg win in the round of 16
- Reaching the quarter-finals
- Reaching the semi-finals
- Reaching the finals
- Victory in the final
UEFA Europa League-Upgrades:
- Reaching the knockout round
- Reaching the round of 16

How strong is the upgrade for an “RTTF” player?
With every upgrade, a player receives the equivalent of a top-quality object. That means: The upgrade works out as if the player would receive an “Inform”. A player who already has an 89 rating will usually go up to 90. An 84, on the other hand, is usually upgraded to 86.

What else do I need to know about the “The Road to the Final” event?
- Once the player’s club is eliminated from the European competition, he will no longer receive any upgrades.
- The same applies if the player moves to a club in winter that is no longer playing in Europe.
- If the player’s club becomes third in the preliminary round in the Champions League and thus moves to the Europa League, the player will not receive an upgrade for reaching the knockout round. But the card will be upgraded later if the club progresses in the Europa League.
When will EA Sports implement the upgrades for the RTTF Champions League players?
The implementation of the upgrades in the game for the players whose clubs are still represented in the competition last took place every Friday after the real events.
