The head of the diplomatic mission noted that the United States is interested in helping citizens of both countries move.
“It’s so interesting, when I travel around Kazakhstan, recently in Almaty and here in Astana, the question about visas is always the most popular question I get asked. First of all, I will say that we have a strong interest in helping citizens of our countries to travel, to visit each other, so that this process becomes easier. I would really like for US citizens to also come here to Kazakhstan, so this is definitely a two-way process. And the main reason for this is to strengthen the connection between people, which then forms strong relationships between our countries.” Daniel Rosenblum
He added that Kazakhstan is the only country in Central Asia where citizens can obtain a non-immigrant visa valid for up to 10 years.
“This is truly an indicator of the health of our relationship. But at the same time, we have certain rules and laws in the United States that we are obliged to comply with. The most important thing is not to give the opportunity to people who want to use their visas for purposes other than those for which they received. That’s why we have practices like interviews, document verification, and so on. And we tried to work to make this process easier, in particular, to make it more efficient so that applicants do not have to wait so long.” Daniel Rosenblum
According to him, visa waiting times have now been significantly reduced.
“I believe that we have succeeded in clearing out the backlog of applications during the pandemic; now the waiting time has been significantly reduced. As I understand it, there is now an opportunity for those who have already traveled to the United States, who have already received a US visa, to re-apply “For a visa, request a cancellation of the interview. This is an option, but it is not standard practice.” Daniel Rosenblum
