Will the new measures also affect kindergartens and primary schools? The most difficult decision, says Babiš

There are different opinions, Babiš does not want school closures for younger children, but on the other hand they represent a large number of social contacts. The impact on employment must also be considered if children cannot go to school and parents have to stay at home with them. Babiš said on Czech Television on Sunday that this was the “most difficult decision”.

From Monday, all high schools and universities will switch to distance learning. Primary school pupils should take turns one week in school and another to learn from home.

On Saturday, after the announcement of Friday’s record increase in new cases of over 8,000, Babiš repeatedly did not rule out the possibility that the Czechia will have to proceed with the so-called lockdown, ie a fundamental reduction in people’s lives and the economy due to the covid-19 epidemic.

On Sunday, President Miloš Zeman spoke out against the complete closure of the country. He expects that the introduced measures in the form of the so-called restriction of leisure activities will extend from at least 14 months to at least one month.

Babiš stated on Sunday on Czech Television that the new rules will probably last two to three weeks. “Then we’ll see if we made it,” he added.

On October 5, the government declared a state of emergency in the country again, for 30 days.
