The last time the Honda S2000 was talked about, it didn’t sound very favorable for fans hoping to return to the market. “The time is not yet ripe,” said Takahiro Hachigo, Honda’s CEO, in 2017. A year later, Hajato Mori, a product planning manager in Canada, said that there was no interest in reviving the S2000 and that such a car would not make money.

But now it looks like the carmaker has changed its mind – at least according to Forbes magazine. Referring to unnamed sources close to the carmaker, the brand’s bosses are seriously considering returning the S2000 roadster to market.

Of course, this cannot be considered as confirmed information, but rather as a message. According to the magazine, however, the new S2000 could come in 2024, the 25th anniversary of the original car; it was manufactured in 1999-2009.

If she came, she could reportedly have motor z Hondy Civic Type-R, which means just like the once two – liter four – cylinder, but now supercharged. With a turbocharger, however, the S2000 would lose one of the things fans love it for – an amazingly rotating atmospheric engine.
–
Today, however, really does not wish much for “driver” engines, which do their best just before the top of the tachometer. On the contrary, sports cars are racing, which will have a higher number on the sign. And while the engine in the current “erk” gives 320 horsepower, according to the magazine, a possible reborn S2000 is considered up to 350 horsepower.

However, what should be maintained is a manual transmission. But let’s see what turns out to be true. The carmaker will certainly announce the return of such a grateful car in time, if it decides positively.
