Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan withdrew his pledge to bear 25% of the land cost needed for the national highway. The Union Transport Minister said that the construction of one kilometer of national highway in Kerala will cost Rs 100 crore. Gadkari blames the Prime Minister who had promised to bear 25 percent of the cost of land acquisition but backed out.
