The coronavirus situation has been deteriorating again in recent days, and after a few weeks of decline, the numbers of newly infected and hospitalized patients are starting to rise again. The Czechia is now in the third stage of the anti-epidemic system PES, which allows shops, restaurants and services to be open.

However, Blatný admitted on Thursday that, due to the deteriorating situation, he will discuss on Monday the tightening of measures and a move back to the fourth degree.

According to the fourth stage methodology, all small shops, restaurants and other services should be closed again. However, Blatný stated that this time smaller stores could be exempted and remain open despite the tightening, as another forced closure could be liquidation for many of them.

Blatný should also present details of the upcoming comprehensive testing of citizens, which will begin on December 18. It will be voluntary and covered by health insurance.

There were 6402 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, the highest increase since 19 November. The index of the anti-epidemic system PES remains at 64 points, so on the fifth day it is above the limit of the fourth degree of risk.

According to the Ministry of Health, all indicators have deteriorated. The number of deaths with covid-19 has increased by 90 to a total of 9226. There are now 4326 hospitalized, of which 545 are in serious condition. This follows from the data of the Ministry of Health.
