Will the cadastre go up in 2020?

More than 1,000 municipalities throughout Spain (1,092), of the 184 are in Catalonia, have requested the Ministry of Hacienda review in 2020 their cadastral values, among which are the capitals of Girona and Tarragona, as well as L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Badalona, have asked the Ministry of Finance to review in 2020 the cadastral values of its urban properties. This is the reference on which the real estate tax is then calculated (THERE). In total 16 provincial capitals are included.

For municipalities in which there has not been cadastral review from the 1984-1988 period, the increase in values will be 5%; in which it is not done from 1989 to 2003, 3%; and in those that were not done since the 2011-2013 period, a 3% reduction is applied.

Of the 184 Catalan municipalities, the review will imply increases in urban values between 3% and 5% for a total of 182 of them, since the previous presentation had been made before 2011. Only in two municipalities of Lleida that have requested the review (Arlesa de Lleida and Os de Balaguer), the new values will imply a downward correction (3%) since the last dates from 2011. The municipalities have the power to cushion or neutralize the increases through tax rates.
