It’s 2024. The entire European continent has regulated digital platforms… Everything? No! A small country of diehard Swiss is still resisting this groundswell. And we’ll have to wait a few more years for that to change. Because Switzerland has indeed taken steps to, perhaps, adopt specific legislative provisions. But the process is still in its early stages, and the authorities remain evasive about the timetable for this vast project.
Meanwhile, the European Union is positioning itself as a major player in the fight against the power of digital giants. Since 2023, it has adopted two regulations relating respectively to services (DSA) and digital markets (DMA). The first imposes on platforms obligations of algorithmic transparency and moderation of illicit content, while the second sets principles intended to promote greater competition between companies.
