Israeli medical personnel confirm that two women were killed in two separate rocket attacks on Ashkelon in southern Israel on Tuesday. According to the Times of Israel the rockets hit two residential buildings.
After shootings between Israel and Hamas, it was reported that at least 26 Palestinians were killed in the clashes, nine of them children. More than 700 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli security forces in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
On Tuesday, two women from Israel were registered dead as a result of the attack, and several are said to be injured. According to Israeli media, one of the dead was an 80-year-old woman.
Israel will step up
“Our conclusion after a situation assessment is that both the strength of the attacks and the frequency will increase,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement, after it became known that two Israeli women had been killed by Palestinian attacks.

– Should use proportional force
In Gaza, health authorities say 26 people have been killed since Monday night. Among them nine children and a woman. The Israeli military claims 16 of the dead were militants.
France urges the leadership of Israel to show a proportionate use of force in response to the rockets fired by Hamas.
“We very clearly demand a proportionate use of force by the Israeli authorities,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne told AFP.
